2008 all asia pass!

it's time to plan your asian travel extravaganza.

just minutes ago cathay pacific announced their 2008 all asia pass. it ain't what it used to be, but the 2008 program still includes roundtrip economy travel between la, sf or nyc to hong kong plus up to 4 "basic" asian destinations within a 3-week period for $1,699 (hong kong + only 2 = $1,099). you can add additional locations, travel during the summer and/or lengthen your trip for extra. full details can be found by downloading the brochure here.

you should really include seoul and busan on your itinerary :)

an actual tip, is that if you want to travel in southeast asia but don't want to use up all 4 of your destinations quota, flights out of bangkok (bkk) and kuala lumpur (kla) are super cheap, thanks to budget airlines like air asia. stopover in bkk for a week or two and take another airline to chiang mai, phnom penh, bali, etc. let me know if you want help planning.

here's the list of "basic" asian destinations (remember there are dozens of others that can be added to your itinerary for an extra fee).

cambodia: phnom penh
hong kong
indonesia: denpasar (bali), jakarta surabaya
japan: fukuoka, nagoya, osaka, sapporo and tokyo,
korea: seoul and busan
malaysia: kota kinabalu, kuala lumpur and penang
pakistan: karachi
philippines: cebu and manilla
singapore
taiwan: kaohsiung and taipei
thailand: bangkok and phuket
vietnam: ho chi minh city
